Lori Amada, a graduate of the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, began her musical career at age 4 with piano lessons. Her piano teachers were concert pianist Susan Starr and Eleanor Sokoloff. Her first appearance on TV was at age 8 on AM Philadelphia. Lori studied with Horn teachers Dale Clevenger, Mason Jones, Nolan Miller, Arnold Jacobs and Francis Orval. She holds a Master of Music degree from The University of Notre Dame where she was a band conductor, teacher and soloist. Lori has traveled the world as a musician. She has played in Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, France, Italy, Austria, Venezuela and more. She has performed with The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Dresden Staatskapel, The Hong Kong Philharmonic, The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, The Delaware Symphony, The South Bend Symphony, Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Opera Company, and more. She has performed with such as artists as Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Isaac Stern, Riccardo Muti and Leonard Bernstein. As a soloist, she has performed over 50 times with orchestras including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Solistas de Venezuela, The Hong Kong Philharmonic, and hundreds of times in recitals. She was invited to The White House to perform for Ronald Reagan. She also performed for the Princess of Thailand. She performed at Avery Fischer hall in New York and can be seen on Youtube. She has won many competitions and grants including Philadelphia Orchestra Young Artists Competition, WFLN radio competition, Graham-Staahl International Horn Competition, Tri- County Soloist Competition, Ford Foundation Grants, ARTS talent and recognition search among them.
Lori has been a popular and successful teacher for over 30 years, teaching privately and in schools and Universities, in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Indiana, Tennessee, and Hong Kong. To date all of her students have won their respective auditions and competitions. She focuses her teaching approach on combining technical ability with fun, treating every student as a unique individual. Currently, she is on staff at Music And Arts in Delaware, Take Lessons, as well as teaching for Start Right Music located in Avondale, PA.
